Description: The question of how the placebo works, and why it works, has never been scientifically explored as rigorously as it has been by Jungian Analyst Richard Kradin. Dr. Kradin will share his findings on the healing power of the placebo. He will discuss the scientifically proven mind/body connection demonstrated by placebos, and look at the ways they can enhance or retard medicinal and mental health therapy.
Presenter: Dr. Richard Kradin MD is a physician at the Massachusetts General Hospital, research immunologist. He is the author of more than 200 articles in the medical several texts including the Herald Dream (2006, Karnac), the Placebo Response (2008, Routledge) and Psychosomatic Disorders(2012, Routledge). He is a training analyst at the CG Jung Institute. He lectures internationally. He is the recipient of the Gradiva Prize in psychoanalysis and trained in both Freudian and Jungian analysis. He’s a member of the MGH center for Psychoanalytical Studies. He has a Masters degree from Harvard in Religion and is the recipient of the Harvard University Small Prize (summa cum laude).
