Course description:

Based on a close reading of Mary Shelley’s novel this webinar series explores multiple ways her story is a re-telling of the mythic tale of Prometheus and the Christian story of creation within the context of science and technology. As such Shelley’s story haunts our time as a prophetic unfolding of the origins of technological power. Using a Jungian-Archetypal approach, this series takes up these prophetic amplifications as a collective symptom that calls us to remember what we have forgotten regarding our place within nature and the cosmos.

Course presenter:

Robert Romanyshyn, Ph.D., is a Jung Platform Faculty member. He is also an Affiliate Member of the Inter-Regional Society of Jungian Analysts and an emeritus professor of psychology in the Clinical and Depth Psychotherapy Programs at Pacifica Graduate Institute. He has authored six books, has contributed chapters to numerous edited volumes, and published essays and reviews in many professional journals. In addition to lectures and workshops presented in the U.S., he has taught and lectured in Europe, Canada, New Zealand, Australia and parts of Africa.

Alchemy course : Embodying James Hillman’s Alchemical Psychology

This is the very well received course on Alchemy by Robert Bosnak and Patricia Berry.
This course includes 10 audio recordings of a live webinar, each an 1.5 hours long.

James Hillman was a past master of alchemical psychology. This field uses metaphors derived from ancient alchemy to elucidate deep structures in the creative imagination. Creative processes are not random. Imagination embodies along lines that become apparent when we ponder the frequently incomprehensible images of alchemy. James Hillman was the primary training analyst of Robert Bosnak, who developed the field of embodied imagination: the way in which images can be felt in the body and shape our embodied condition. By studying alchemical psychology we come to understand ourselves and other humans in surprising ways that frequently diverge sharply from the habitual understandings we have unconsciously absorbed from the cultures in which we were raised. These new awarenesses can engender unexpected new vitality and wonder.

This course will follow the teachings of Hillman in his final and most profound book, Alchemical Psychology. This volume covers a lifetime of studies and is quite difficult to read by someone who is not deeply steeped in alchemy, the work of C.G. Jung as well as James Hillman. Bosnak and Berry have studied these thinkers for well over 40 years.

In the course we will go through the book Alchemical Psychology page by page, and frequently line by line, sometimes dropping even between the lines into the great mystery itself. For those who have tasted these mysteries, there is no way back. One is haunted by them for life. It was so with Jung, Hillman, and with Bosnak and Berry as well. It will happen to you if you’re open to it.

Topics of this course:
1 – The Therapeutic Value of Alchemical Language: A Heated Introduction
2 – Rudiments

Robert Bosnak, PsyA, is a Jungian psychoanalyst who graduated from the C.G. Jung Institute in Zurich in 1977. Since then he was been in private practice in the United States and Australia. He founded the Santa Barbara Healing Sanctuary, developed a method of working with dreams called Embodied Imagination. He also wrote several books, among which the worldwide bestseller ‘A Little Course In Dreams’.

Patricia Berry, Ph.D, is one of the founders of Archetypal Psychology along with James Hillman. She is a Zurich-trained Jungian Analyst and author of Echo’s Subtle Body: A Contribution to Archetypal Psychology. In 1991 she was the first Scholar in Residence at Pacifica Graduate Institute in California. She lectures internationally and has served as president of both the New England and the Inter-Regional Societies of Jungian Analysts.

Hauntings – with James Hollis

This 4 class course is about dealing with hauntings of invisible (metaphorical) ghosts that (may) direct our daily lives. Hauntings can be seen as obstacles in the way of finding one’s path in life, but hauntings can also be approached from a depth psychological perspective and be seen as a call for individuation.

James Hollis sees hauntings as an invitation to rise above the ghost that is haunting you and as an opportunity to get unstuck and move forward to a life closer to your soul and (re)connect with the meaning of your life.

We all live to a certain extent in service to the past and to values of our family of origin. Also can we be seized by the effect of untold stories, by emotions like shame or guilt, by disappointments and the sense of betrayal when our expectations are not met, and/or by complexes or experiences in previous relationships. Those conscious and unconscious dynamics can haunt us, until we are forced to face our pain and fear, and the path of healing becomes clear.

In this Jung Platform course James Hollis will help participants to become more authentic and connected to their souls by driving out the invisible energies that hold us back in our development. One needs to engage with life’s mysteries, because from such engagements a more considered life may come.

Course presenter: James Hollis, Ph.D., was born in Springfield, Illinois, and graduated from Manchester University in 1962 and Drew University in 1967. He taught Humanities 26 years in various colleges and universities before retraining as a Jungian analyst at the Jung Institute of Zurich, Switzerland (1977-82). He is presently a licensed Jungian analyst in private practice in Washington, D.C. He served as Executive Director of the Jung Educational Center in Houston, Texas for many years and now is Executive Director of the Jung Society of Washington. He is a retired Senior Training Analyst for the Inter-Regional Society of Jungian Analysts, was first Director of Training of the Philadelphia Jung Institute, and is Vice-President Emeritus of the Philemon Foundation. Additionally he is a Professor of Jungian Studies for Saybrook University of San Francisco/Houston.

He has written a total of fifteen books and over fifty articles. The books have been translated into Swedish, Russian, German, Spanish, French, Hungarian, Portuguese, Turkish, Italian, Korean, Finnish, Romanian, Bulgarian, Farsi, Japanese, Greek, Chinese, and Czech.

Descent into the Red Book – with Robert Bosnak

Falling with Jung down the Spirit of the Deep – A journey with C.G. Jung and Robert Bosnak
FULL COURSE – Audio lectures 1 through 20 (instant download) + Synopsis / Study Guide -produced by Jill Fischer, MS, APRN, BC
This course was originally developed, produced and recorded by Cyberdreamwork.com

About the Course
A century ago, around Christmas 1913, Swiss psychiatrist Carl Gustav Jung lost his way and surrendered on purpose to the tumultuous embodied intelligence of the autonomous creative imagination. The outcome is a journey as perilous as The Lord of the Rings and as enlightening as the Divine Comedy. One hundred years later Jungian analyst Robert Bosnak gets lost down in the timeless Deep together with Jung and struggles his way back to the 21st century. This is a fascinating travelogue by two men in the same territory a century apart.

Note: The audio quality of this recording is average (listen to a short sample here). Most Jung Platform programs are of a high quality, however this particular program was recorded from a live Skype broadcast.
